  In my experience i took only 2 weeks to learn smalltalk and Cormas. I never followed a course to learn Cormas and SmallTalk. VisualWork is an open source, you can visualize its codes in order to learn to program quickly in SmallTalk. You can find more tutorials and samples on www.squeak.org, www.smalltalk.org, http://cormas.cirad.fr.
   
  You can dowload some models on http://cormas.cirad.fr and see how they have been developped.
   
  Don't worry, they are many forums to help you to developp in SmallTalk and Cormas.

I would like to use CORMAS in a project related to tropical
deforestation in Venezuela. I was thinking in exploring its capabilities
with small class projects in an upper level undergraduate course. I am
not familiar with CORMAS so I was planning to learn it just a bit ahead
of them. After reviewing some of the tutorials, I am beginning to doubt
if this is feasible. In your experience, how much time does it take to
learn CORMAS? What part of the effort should be placed in learning
Smalltalk and Visual Works?

I will really appreciate any comments that you may have in this regard.
