COmmon-pool Resources and Multi-Agent Simulations

Welcome to !

This site, developped by the Green research unit from CIRAD, is devoted to the applied modelling of relationship between societies and their environment. You will find here what we and our partners are doing with multi-agent systems about integrated natural resources management.

We are proposing a companion-modelling approach based on a computer tool, CORMAS, which is an agent-based simulation framework that can be downloaded free of charge. The last version released in 2012 can be downloaded here.

You will also be able to access application examples (with a models library) and publications. Check out the paper on the Cormas user community published in 2012 in the Journal of Artificial Societies and Social Simulation.

The Cormas2014 version is available. Download it here. Among many improvements, This version is particularly suitable for:

  • Distributing a simulation on several machines (currently only on Windows OS), and monitoring the evolution of a remote simulation, displaying particular points of view and remotely manipulating the entities,
  • Stepping back in time of a simulation or replaying forward a previously stored simulation,
  • Creating an .exe file in order to instal and run a model on another machine (Windows),
  • Designing the agents' figures more easily thanks to the improvement of the drawing tool.

We are also regularly delivering training courses.

The Fourth edition of MISS-ABMS (Multi-platform International Summer School on Agent-Based Modeling & Simulation) will be held in Montpellier from September 8-19, 2014. More information and the registration form are here.
