The European Social Simulation Association (ESSA) is an association of those
living or working in Europe who are interested in the potential of social
simulation. The association would like to include everyone using social
simulation in Europe and hopes that if you are not already a member, you
will join us.

As a member, you can receive an email newsletter every two weeks, listing
relevant events, publications and preprints. This is invaluable for keeping
up with the literature and with the increasing number of workshops and
conferences on social simulation.

ESSA itself organises an annual conference (e.g
http://www.essa.eu.org/ESSA2005 )
in those years when there is not a World Congress (
http://www.paaa.econ.kyoto-u.ac.jp/wcss06/wcss06.html ). Members are
entitled to reduced registration rates at these conferences.

ESSA runs a website (http://www.essa.eu.org/ ) which lists members' details,
notes forthcoming events in Europe, and will shortly include links to
educational courses and modules about social simulation.

ESSA helps to fund workshops related to social simulation with a scheme that
can provide up to €1500 support for workshop expenses (
http://www.essa.eu.org/ ).

Joining ESSA costs only €50 (€30 for students) and can be done easily
through its website using PayPal (
http://www.essa.eu.org/modules.php?name=Your_Account&op=new_user ). We hope
you will join us.

Nigel Gilbert

(President, ESSA)
