My opinion, as well as a biologist and as the developper of
a complementary platform (Mobidycwhich) which is smalltalk too,
is that the user layer should still be Smalltalk, and to study
if it is possible that the deeper layers of Cormas could be in C++.
(knowing that as far as I know the vw "primitives" are
already in C...)

I don't know if Java is a good choice. People seem to say
that vw is currently as quick and perhaps quicker than
Java and I don't really see that we need Java's net
capabilities.

I think speed may be a critical point when sensibility analysis are
to be made.

Now the pb for vw smalltalk is that it is free and presently very
well supported, but what for the future ?

It is really difficult to do good choices on the shifting sands of
computer sciences...
