Subject: picture files as cell/environment symbols

Hi everyone,
Has anyone experienced using picture files, such as bmp, jpg, gif, and png, as symbols for cells in an environment rather than just using the plain colors? More importantly, is this possible to do? could someone teach me how? thanks
