The Department of Economics and the Department of Ecological Modelling
at the UFZ-Centre for Environmental Research Leipzig-Halle GmbH
(Leipzig/Germany) cooperate in the field of “ecological-economic
modelling for biodiversity conservation policies” and invite
applications for

EU Marie-Curie full-time research position for an agricultural,
forestry, or environmental and resource economist (m/f).

The two departments are involved in various EU projects and frequently
host foreign researchers. The research fellow will be employed within an
EU Marie Curie “Transfer of Knowledge”- activity and closely collaborate
with UFZ researchers and another Marie Curie fellow. The fellows will
work in a group that develops effective and efficient policy instruments
for biodiversity conservation (www.ufz.de/index.php?en=4308). In line
with the philosophy of EU’s Marie Curie programme, the fellow will
incorporate his/her knowledge into the group activities as well as learn
from the group about their experience in ecological-economic modelling
and biodiversity management through common research activities. The
development of own research initiatives is encouraged. The ideal
candidate will have
o PhD or 4 years research experience (full time equivalent; since
gaining university degree giving access to doctoral studies) in
Agricultural, Forestry or Environmental and Resource Economics
o Knowledge relevant for the empirical evaluation of costs for
conservation measures in the field of agriculture or forestry
o Interest in ecological-economic modelling and conservation
o Good social and communication skills
o Ability to work as part of an inter-disciplinary team
o Openness to the exchange and transfer of knowledge
The fellowships will start as soon as possible and last for two years.
The candidates have to be citizens of EU countries or associated-state
nationals, except Germany. Remuneration will be provided according to
the EU regulations for Marie Curie Fellowships, and will amount to a
gross salary of at least 43,000 Euros per year, depending on the
personal situation (marital status) of the fellow. The salary will be
supplemented by an annual travel allowance for travels to the fellow's
home country and a career exploratory allowance of 2,000 Euros once.
