Assistant Research Professional

 

Arizona State University’s School of Human Evolution and Social Change
(formerly the Department of Anthropology) focuses on understanding the past,
present and future of human societies. In the School there is an increasing
use of computational models and integrated data systems in research and
teaching. We have an opening for an Assistant Research Professional to be
responsible for assisting research in the design, development, programming,
system testing, and installation and user support of multi-agent systems and
data systems. The individual in this position will collaborate with faculty
and students on the development of novel computational tools for social
science research. Other duties include: writing documentation of the
developed software; maintaining program libraries, user manuals, and
technical documentation; designing and maintaining web-based applications of
computational tools; and supervising students.

 

Required qualifications include a Master’s degree in Computer Science or
related field and one year experience developing software for scientific or
statistical data applications. Desired qualifications include: experience:
programming and data defining languages including SQL, MS SQL Server, HTML,
XML Object-oriented programming languages, and JAVA; programming relational
database applications and multi-agent systems; with software engineering;
and project management. Demonstrated knowledge of computer science concepts
and server network hardware and software are also desired.

 

This is an annually renewable appointment. A background check is required
for employment. ASU offers reduced tuition (to include the employee,
