SEVERAL OPEN POSITIONS AT ETH ZURICH (PostDoc, PhD student)

At the Chair for System Design (www.sg.ethz.ch), we use methods from
complex systems theory for a more fundamental understanding of the
dynamics of organizations. Problems of interest include the formation
of hierarchies, collective decision making under incomplete
information, measures for robustness and adaptivity.

In our genuinely interdisciplinary team, we have to fill in several
teaching and research positions (Postdoc and PhD student level) now or
by agreement. Therefore, we invite applications from candidates with a
background in the following fields: natural sciences (e.g. statistical
physics), mathematics (e.g. non-linear dynamics), computer sciences
(e.g. multi-agent based computer simulations), engineering
(e.g. production networks), economics (e.g. innovation dynamics),
social sciences (e.g. decision theory).

Applicants should have a proven interest in quantitative and
interdisciplinary research. They should be highly motivated to explore
scientific problems beyond the beaten track, both within the team and
independendly. Working in our interdisciplinary team requires strong
communication skills, good knowledge of German (mandantory for
teaching positions) and fluently spoken and written English.

We offer excellent working conditions in a lively team, competitive
salaries and innovative research in close collaboration with leading
teams all over the world. Our lab is equipped with modern Unix/Linux
computer systems. We preferably use LaTeX and programming languages
such as C/C++, Java, Perl or Phyton, so some knowledge in these areas
would be desirable.

Applicants are asked to send their curriculum vitae, list of
publications, names of at least three references, and a short overview
of their research interests (all in PDF files) to Carole Siegfried
(csiegfried@ethz.ch). For specific inqueries, you may also contact
Prof. Dr. Dr. Frank Schweitzer (fschweitzer@ethz.ch).
