Hi everyone,
I've been asked by one colleague about any MAS or ABM model that would describe/demonstrate a clear "phase shift" within a system (ecological, social, economic...whatever).
He has in mind processes described, for example, in studies on resilience where a system is (supposedly) flipping from one stable state to another (from one basin of attraction to another one would say System Dynamics experts) due to internal forces and external shocks. Myself being increasingly cautious with the concept of phase shifting....I feel a little unconfortable.
I've tought about Carpenter's work on Lakes.
Any other idea ?
cheers
pascal
