organisations provide suitable structures and dynamics to conserve and
possibly increase agro-biodiversity? What kind of production and exchange
systems allow to maintain suitable levels of agro-biodiversity while
ensuring seed quality? Is there a traditional seed system that could support
the in situ conservation of cereal biodiversity and increase the
dissemination of new varieties?

- Activities: (i) Literature review and preparation of a state of
the art paper on modelling of agro-biodiversity management (ii)
Documentation and comparative analysis of two case studies on sorghum in
Mali and rainfed lowland rice in northeast Thailand (iii) Design of an
agent-based modelling methodology to analyse and simulate organizations
managing agro-biodiversity.

Required qualifications:

- PhD in agricultural sciences or natural resource management,
previous experience in biodiversity management will be an important asset,

- Competence in data analysis, modelling of complex systems,
preferably agent-based modelling and multi-agent systems,

- Knowledge and skills in the analysis of social organizations,
field surveys in rural areas, and participatory approaches will be
appreciated.
