Objet : Grants for participation in workshop on ecological-economic
modelling
To whom it may concern!
Travel and accomodation grants are available for four young scientists
(PhD students or young post-docs) to attend a workshop on
*“Ecological-economic modelling for designing and evaluating biodiversity
conservation policies”*
organised by the UFZ-Centre for Environmental Research in Leipzig,
Germany and funded by the European Science Foundation.
The workshop will take place on 9/10 September 2004 at the UFZ in
Leipzig. Its aim is to bring together ecologists, economists and
modellers to reflect and discuss about the method of ecological-economic
modelling in order to better understand its potential for improving
conservation policies, as well as problems that occur in a model-based
merger of the two disciplines ecology and economics.
Eligible for the grants are citizens from European countries. We
especially invite scientists from the new EU member states to apply for
the grants. If you are interested, please send an email to Martin
Drechsler (martin.drechsler@ufz.de) or Frank Wätzold
(frank.waetzold@ufz.de) no later than 1 June.
The email should include your affiliation and a brief summary of your
research background/discipline and interests including publications
(altogether no longer than one page). Criteria of selection will be
experience and interest in the topic of the workshop and geographical
spread of participants. If you know others who might be interested,
