Objet : [netlogo-users] Post-doc position at Northwestern University

Dear Colleagues:

Please forward this post-doc ad to anyone you think might find it
interesting..

The Center for Connected Learning and Computer-based Modeling (CCL,
http://ccl.northwestern.edu) at Northwestern University in Chicagoland has
an opening for a post-doctoral researcher with background and interest in
Modeling/Simulation, Science Education and Networked Collaborative
Learning.

We seek a qualified and motivated person to work with us on several
NSF-funded educational technology design and research projects.

The post-doctoral scholar will join a multi-disciplinary team of
researchers and developers aimed at increasing the effectiveness and range
of technology for learning. The scholar will conduct a research program in a
supportive, exciting environment with collaborations with talented
colleagues and leaders in the field. S/he will work with teams of scientists
and educators to develop activities, models, microworlds and science
curriculum for (largely) secondary schools. These materials will be tested
with a large number of students in our partner districts. Much of the work
will be situated in the context of developing a "modeling strand" in
education. S/he will also be involved in developing standards, guidelines,
and a theory of design for innovations in learning.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have a background in the natural
sciences, engineering, mathematics or computer science and a Ph.D. in the
natural sciences, learning sciences, education, engineering, computer
science, mathematics, or related disciplines. Applicants should demonstrate
ability to work in a team, have experience working in school settings,
interest in using modeling and simulation technologies, and interest in
developing a multi-disciplinary research program. Applicants should be
available to start by fall 2004. The position is for two years.

To apply, please send CV, letter of application and the names and contact
information for three references to ccl-admin@ccl.northwestern.edu.
