The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics - ICTP
Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei - FEEM
Beijer International Institute of Ecological Economics

ECOLOGICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS PROGRAMME

Postdoctoral position 2004-2005

Deadline for applications: 15 March 2004

The Ecological and Environmental Economics Programme (EEE), a joint
programme of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical
Physics (ICTP), Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) and the Beijer
International Institute of Ecological Economics, invites applications
for one postdoctoral position in integrated assessment and computable
general equilibrium models. Appointment may begin from 1 May 2004 (and
possibly not later than 1 June 2004).

The main area of research is integrated assessment models. Research
tasks will involve the development of case studies on a computable
general equilibrium model (GTAP), assessing the economic impact of
climate change for specific sectors. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in
economics or be near its completion, and experience in integrated
climate modelling and general equilibrium models.

Very good written and spoken English is essential for this position.

The EEE Programme offers an international and interdisciplinary
environment, the possibility to develop an innovative research programme
and a world-wide network of research institutions in the ecological and
environmental economy field. Duties will be performed in the Abdus Salam
ICTP headquarters, in Trieste, Italy. A full range of the activities of
the EEE Programme is described in the EEE Programme website at
http://www.ictp.trieste.it/~eee/, whilst information on the Abdus Salam
ICTP is available at http://www.ictp.trieste.it/.

Appointments are made for one year, renewable for a second year
contingent on the availability of funds within the EEE Programme. Net
salary will be based on qualification and working experience (1,550 to
1,700 Euro/monthly tax exempt). Higher salaries may be considered for
particularly experienced candidates. Family allowances are available for
unemployed spouses and school age children, as well as health insurance
coverage and removal allowance.

Applicants should send a detailed curriculum vitae with a full list of
publications to: Ms. Rosa del Rio, the Abdus Salam ICTP, Strada Costiera
11, 34014, Trieste, Italy (Phone: +39.040.2240396; Fax: +39.040.224163;
e-mail: eee@ictp.trieste.it). The candidates are also encouraged to
arrange for up to three letters of recommendation to be sent to Ms. del
Rio.

The closing data for receipt of applications is 15 March 2004.

Given the institutional goals of the EEE Programme, applications from
nationals of developing countries are strongly encouraged.
