Hello

Did you received the answer of C. Le Page?

Extract from a paper to be published (hopefully):
On the one hand, for several researchers, the representation of individuals
introduces inter-individual variability and thus heterogeneity is not
aggregated (Lomnicki, 1999). However the autonomy of the individual is not
really taken into account. Models are called i-state distribution models
(Maley and Caswell, 1993). On the other hand, the individual is given
unique characteristics (Judson, 1994) and holds a specific history (Gross,
1998). Models are called i-state configuration models (Maley and Caswell,
1993).

To me this is what IBM models have introduced in ecology. Now a step further
has been done when ecologist met the community of computer scientists and
sociologists working on MAS. Thus the terminology has changed.

The introduction of agent terminology corresponds to the strengthening of
the autonomy of the individual and the organizational-social aspects.
Furthermore an agent is often not an individual. Can be a Group, a cohort, a
Village, a country...

Dear all, I resend this message as no one answers me... I am a bit
dissapointed...

        Dear all,

I read the other day one email distinguishing between
Agent-based model and individual-based model.

Could you please explain to me the difference? I do not see it
at all...

        Regards
