Development of statistical methods to support environmental policy and planning through spatio-temporal analysis and visualisation of simulation model output
Research will involve the development of combined geo-statistical and novel spatio-temporal methods for the analysis and visualization of outputs from 'time-geographical' simulation models and databases. The project is financed by the European Commission and funding is available for up to 36 months. The applicants should hold an MSc (or equivalent) in mathematics, statistics, engineering or physical sciences, and must possess numerical modelling and computer programming skills. Previous training at BSc/MSc level in geo-statistical/statistical modelling would be a strong advantage. Tuition fees plus a bursary of £9,500-£10,500, depending on background and experience, will be offered to the successful candidate. The position is available immediately.
Informal inquiries about the post may be made to Dr M. McAllister, Tel: + 44 (0)20 759 49330, e-mail: m.mcallister@imperial.ac.uk. Applications, including a CV, a short statement outlining research interests, and the names and addresses of two referees should be sent to: Dr M. McAllister, Department of Environmental Science and Technology, Imperial College, Prince Consort Road, London SW7 2BP, United Kingdom.
