Predictive modelling of water demand profiles for new developments.
The School of Water Sciences at Cranfield University is looking to appoint a post-graduate researcher to investigate the strategic planning of water supply infrastructures through spatially discretised water demand and supply analysis tools. The work will involve characterisation of water demand potentials across a case study area through allocation of land-use classifications and, within these, prediction of water use profiles relating to domestic, commercial, agricultural and industrial uses. Research will be carried out in collaboration with academic and commercial partners and will involve some travel both in the UK and Europe. Candidates should have skills in computer based simulation modelling (although this could come from the natural or human sciences perspective) and preferably some knowledge of the water supply sector. The successful candidate would be expected to register for a PhD and a studentship worth up to £12,000 p.a. is available.
