Subject: Emergence

Hello.
I am reading MAS document and found the word "Emergence" that is used in
term of "the event of interaction among agents at one level can affect to
another level of nested hierarchy". I am sure if I understand this word
correctly. I could not find a simple example of emergence dealing with
natural resource management either. Could you help me by giving an example
of this word in the real world?
