Me too I think the second option (to model the chain in detail) is the best
one
A very simple model could be useful to initiate the discusion and propose
the tool but the goal of a chain is to analyse the detail of each component.
Please send as your french paper (nous comprennons tout à fait le français).
We too we will share as progress.
Sincerly Bernardo Paz.

Hello !
I have also worked on the modelling of market chains with MAS. It appears
that there is a dilemma between two options : one is to model all the chain
in a very simple way (to keep it simple), the other is to model with much
more detail one part of the chain (with the "above" and "below" part of the
chain as inputs and outputs of the simulations).
I choosed the second options because I was interested in market institutions
If you like, I can send you a little article in french which presents this
model (in fact it's a chapter of my PhD).
Best Regards,
Franck
