Call for Articles: GIS Access and Participatory Approa

CALL FOR ARTICLES

Special Issue: URISA Journal
Access and Participatory Approaches in Using Geographic Information

Article Submission Deadline for Priority Consideration: March 1, 2002

The National Science Foundation and the European Science Foundation cooperatively funded a workshop recently on two highly active research areas within the general domain of "GIS and Society" research: (1) accessibility and access to geographic information and (2) participatory processes involving geographic information technologies or data. We invite interested parties and participants in the workshop to submit articles focused on one or more of the workshop topics for inclusion in this special issue of the URISA Journal.

Short and concise applied research, field observation, reflective, and exploratory articles in the range of 3000 words (5 pages) are particularly encouraged but longer articles also will be considered.

For a description of the full range of "access" and "participatory" topics of interest for this issue, see http://www.spatial.maine.edu/~onsrud/Spoleto.htm and http://www.shef.ac.uk/~scgisa/spoleto/workshop.htm

Manuscript submission guidelines: http://wwwurisa.org/Journal/manuscri.htm
URISA Journal Online http://www.urisa.org/Journal/onlinejournal.htm

The article must be submitted electronically to <sgrams@urisa.org>. A panel of reviewers will review all of the submitted articles shortly after March 1.

We look forward to receiving your submission!

Best, Harlan Onsrud, Editor-in Chief
