Dear all,

Have you heard of Cormas 2002 ?
Well it's still in preparation but it's nearly there. Our favourite Cormas
team is working on it...

One of the many features that have been added to this version is the
possibility to run a model without opening the spatial grid, which is
particularly interesting when one want to gain time on a simulation. Yes,
we've asked for it, and they did it!!
I had the opportunity to test a beta version of Cormas 2002 on CatchScape
(the model I'm working on) and here are the results of the simulation times,
with and without the spatial grid:

- With grid: 16 minutes for 360 time steps
- Without grid: 12 minutes for 360 time steps

Note that the grid here is a 44*45 size.

So in this case it goes 1.5 time faster then the actual version. Quiet good,
isn't it.
But there is more. According to Christophe on other models it has run 4 to 5
times faster with the new version !!!

What I think at this stage, is that 1/ of course it depends of the model and
2/ it seems that the time gained is a fixed value (in my case, I've gain
0.67 sec / time step). So on big models (lot of methods per step) the
increase of speed isn't very high but on simpler model it will goo much more
faster then before. 3/ the bigger is your grid the more time you'll save.

So, I'm sure that you'll all agree that Cormas is a very powerful tool !!!

Because Cormas 2002 is still under elaboration, I think it's the right time
to submit on this forum all the bugs we've noticed on the actual version and
the improvements we've think of, that could be added to the coming version.
It could be a good opportunity to discuss our suggestions and share the
experiences we all have on the platform. What do you think of it ?

Cheers,

Nicolas Becu
