 Call for Papers

Special Session "Simulation and environmental resource management"
Workshop 2002 - Agent-Based Simulation 3

University of Passau, Germany
April 7 - 9, 2002

Agent-based simulation is being increasingly widely advocated in the context of the social, economic and political issues that arise from the management of scarce environmental resources. Current research examines:

• the development of scenarios of 'possible futures' using simulation
• the modelling of situations of conflict between stakeholders
• participatory approaches in which the objective is to support a dialogue between stakeholders and researchers
• the integration of physical, climatic and market models with social models
• the development of models of extreme and rare events

A special session will be held at the Passau Agent-Based Simulation conference that will focus on these and related topics. We invite submissions of papers that contribute to the session theme.

The session is organized by Nigel Gilbert, University of Surrey, UK on behalf of the FIRMA consortium (http://www.cpm.mmu.ac.uk/firma/).

The deadline for the submission of workshop papers is December 21, 2001. Papers should be emailed as a postscript attachment to mailto:rimane@cs.fau.de with a copy to the session organiser, mailto:n.gilbert@soc.surrey.ac.uk.

Further information on the workshop can be obtained from
